DR.
JOHN J. MEDINA
Medina
holds joint affiliate faculty appointments at the University of Washington
School of Medicine, in its Department of Bioengineering, and at Seattle
Pacific University, where he is the director of the Brain Center for
Applied Learning Research. Medina has a lifelong fascination with how
the mind reacts to and organizes information.
As the father
of two boys, he has an interest in how the brain sciences might influence
the way we teach our children. In addition to his research, consulting,
and teaching, Medina speaks often to public officials, business and
medical professionals, school boards, and nonprofit leaders. He lives
in Seattle with his wife and two sons. Medina's books include: Brain
Rules (New York Times Bestseller), The Genetic Inferno, The Clock of
Ages, Depression, What You Need to Know About Alzheimer's, The Outer
Limits of Life, Uncovering the Mystery of AIDS, and Of Serotonin, Dopamine

of our Alliance is to provide advocacy,
professional development and unity for Health, Physical Education, Recreation,
Dance and Athletics Professionals and Students, in order to enhance
and promote Health and Fitness for all people in Washington
State.
The Washington Alliance (WAHPERD) is a member of the American Alliance
(AAHPERD), which provides a
strong national voice for its members on professional and legislative
issues ... and keeps its members and the public aware of professional
and legislative developments.
The Washington Alliance is one of the
oldest professional associations in Washington
which is dedicated to the advancement and promotion of its allied fields
of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance, Athletics and Special
Populations.
HEALTH EDUCATION - This division serves
Health Educators and other Health Professionals who promote healthy
lifestyles.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION - This division
seeks to enhance knowledge and professional practices in sport and physical
activities.
RECREATION - This division serves Recreation
Professionals, Practitioners and Students who promote recreation and
leisure activities.
DANCE
- This division seeks to increase knowledge, improve skills and encourage
sound professional practices in dance education.
SPECIAL POPULATIONS - This division serves Adapted Physical Educators
who teach movement and motor skills to disabled students.
