Speaker - Author - Encourager
"Heartache, pain, suffering and grief come to everyone. Pain is inevitable,
but misery is optional and joy is a choice," Dan Miller tells his audiences.
He is a speaker
who has shared his inspirational story more than 1400 times throughout North
America. Miller's unique humorous style gives hope and encouragement that
all of us can beat the negatives of life.
Miller's life took a sudden turn when he was still a teenager. He was a star
athlete and recent high school graduate with big dreams to become a physical
education teacher, pilot, guitar player, husband and father. A few weeks later,
he was diagnosed with polio. In one week, he went from a healthy 18-year old
athlete to a helpless 18-year-old baby. He lost the use of both legs and both
arms. Eventually, Dan was able to recover use of one arm, and function with
an 85% loss of his leg muscles. Always upbeat and positive, Dan explains,"
I'm not complaining, just explaining. I only lost one arm!"
In his keynote presentations, Miller shares about meeting his dreams in life
in spite of impossible odds. With humorous stories of learning to fly an airplane,
getting a Master's degree in physical education, shooting a hole in one, and
a golf handicap of 13 with one arm, his message to others is that your dreams
can come true. Many other dreams have come true for Dan including playing
a guitar, and becoming an author. His book, "Living Laughing and Loving
Life!" has sold 70,000 copies.
"I
have gone from being crippled, to disabled,
to handicapped, to physically challenged,
and now I am mobility impaired!...every
10 years...I change!"--Dan
